Miss California

So apparently there is a big controversy over Miss California's interview portion of the competition:

"Perez Hilton: “Vermont recently became the 4th state to legalize same-sex marriage. Do you think every state should follow suit. Why or why not?”
Prejean: “Well, I think it’s great that Americans are able to choose one or the other. We live in a land where you can choose same-sex marriage or opposite marriage. And you know what, in my country, in my family, I think that I believe that a marriage should be between a man and a woman. No offense to anybody out there, but that’s how I was raised and that’s how I think it should be between a man and a woman. Thank you very much.”

It may have cost her the crown and it may not be the most grammatically correct answer but I say good for her for standing up for her beliefs! So many people are in an uproar about this saying she doesn't represent 'the people' of the United States. Well ok then maybe she shouldn't be Miss USA but that still doesn't' make her answer wrong it makes it hers.

How come people are only entitled to their opinion if its politically correct?

I agree--they ask the contestants what THEY think not what AMERICA thinks!

I wonder if gay/lesbian is the majority? Perhaps she does represent the people?
